Loan ID rules

Your Loan IDs are yours. SPCR imposes no naming scheme, only these constraints.

The rules

• No spaces. If your source file has spaces, replace each with a dash.
• 5 to 64 characters.
• Letters, digits and - _ / . only.
• Starts with a letter or a digit.

A tranche prefix is part of the Loan ID and counts toward the 64 characters.

Two things to understand before you generate any

A Loan ID is permanent

Once registered it is taken forever, across the whole registry, in any pool, under any originator. It can never be reused or re-registered. That permanence is what prevents double-pledging.

A space silently breaks verification

A Loan ID with a space hashes differently from the same ID without one. A funder checking it would see "not found" with no explanation of why. The register form warns you as you type, but check your tape before uploading.

A scheme that works

Originator, year, pool, sequence. Anything consistent works. What matters is that you can tell from an identifier which pool it belongs to, because you will be answering questions about it in two years.
